This playlist brings together sessions focussed on mental health and wellbeing when faced with challenges at school. With contributions from Roger Kneebone, Stephen Russell, Tom Oxley and Becky Mizon, these sessions all focus on how to sustain yourself as a professional and understand the role that you play for children & young people.

Dr Roger Kneebone, Director of the Imperial College Centre for Engagement and Simulation Science (ICCESS) in conversation with Jen Langeskov. Roger brings his perspective as a surgeon to the field of creative learning, and crucially talks about spending enough time on learning how to be great at what you do.

‘From Surviving to Thriving’ with Stephen Russell, founder of Beyond Behaviour which provides consultancy, coaching and professional development in all aspects of behaviour, wellbeing and leadership. Steve looks at how teachers worked during lockdown and explores a framework to consider how we use our energy during strained times.

‘Managing Mental Health in a Mad World’ with Tom Oxley, Lead Consultant and Relationship Director for Bamboo Mental Health. Tom’s session looks at how stress and anxiety grew during Covid & how teachers can react to this.

‘Returning to the Classroom’ with Becky Mizon, Art Lead at Ormiston Victory Academy. Becky talks about returning to the classroom post Covid, how to prioritise your workload and how to keep yourself and your staff safe and well.

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
